Only three spaces remain.
There are people whose names you know because someone spoke them often enough that they survived. There are people whose faces you recognize from photographs tucked into albums and boxes. There are stories that have been repeated so many times they have become part of the architecture of your family.
And then there are the others.
The names nobody remembers. The stories nobody told. The ones who crossed oceans or stayed exactly where they were born. The ones who survived wars, hunger, childbirth, heartbreak, migration, marriages, secrets, ordinary Tuesdays and extraordinary grief. The ones whose hands made things, planted things, cooked things, carried babies, buried loved ones and eventually disappeared from living memory.
And yet here you are.
Communing with the Ancestors is a day for turning toward that enormous lineage behind us.
I have taught this retreat before, but no two gatherings have ever been the same. They really couldn’t be. Different people enter the room. Different ancestors come with them. Different stories want to be remembered.
On Sunday, October 25, we will spend the day together through meditation, movement, candle magic, altar setting, creative work, food, ritual and communion.
And food will matter.
I am asking everyone who comes to bring an ancestry dish to share. It might be something your grandmother made. Something connected to your culture or family. Something pulled from an old recipe card. Something you remember eating as a child. Maybe you have to call somebody and ask. Maybe you have to go digging.
At lunchtime we will create a feast together, set a place for those who came before us, and invite the ancestors into the communion.
There is something wonderfully mysterious about eating a food that has traveled through generations. Somebody taught somebody who taught somebody. Ingredients changed. Measurements disappeared. Recipes crossed borders. Sometimes all that remains is a little of this, enough of that, cook it until it looks right.
And somehow we still know how to make it.
We will create an ancestral altar together. We will work with candles and intention. We will move and meditate. We will make something with our hands. We will tell stories. We will remember. And we will leave room for whatever happens when eight people gather intentionally around the lives that made their own lives possible.
I am limiting this retreat to eight people, because I want it intimate.
Five spaces are already spoken for. Three remain.
And then we go deeper.
Beginning in November, I will begin teaching Ancestral Healing, one Sunday each month from 9 AM–noon.
This is not a single retreat. It is an ongoing process of exploring ancestry, inherited patterns, relationship, remembrance, healing and the ways the lives that came before us continue to echo through the lives we are living now.
$55 per monthly class.
There will be two ways to participate: in person, with limited space, and live on Zoom, so you do not need to live near me to join us.

But first, on October 25, we gather at the table.
Bring a dish.
Bring a photograph if you have one. Bring a name. Bring a story. Bring the questions nobody in your family ever answered.
And if you don’t know their names, come anyway.
They are still your ancestors.
